So I stole myself a Cadillac and was cruising down the street
I was looking for a pretty girl to have beside me in my seat

I was feeling pretty cool, as I was crusing along
But when I pulled up at a traffic stop, waiting for the light
I could see a policeman, and he had me in his sight
My mind took a vacation, and I put the hammer down

It never will go fast enough, to get a policeman off your back
We were racing down the highway, and the cop was on my tail
But suddenly my car went dead, and my face was turning pale
The policeman parked in front of me, and then he shook his head
And told me that I should have stolen a Chevrolet instead
